One little piggy was surrendered at the Michigan Humane Society (MHS). One little piggy was surrendered to rescue agents. And one little piggy was saved while strolling the streets — in Detroit. Meet Tooters, Missy, and Sir William Wellington of Swineshire. Care for a snuggle?

Unlike the folk tale, there is nothing little about these three pigs. Even so, they have enjoyed expert care for at least eight weeks at the Rochester Hills Center for Animal Care. After all, our top doc’ began her career caring for whole herds of hogs. But now it’s time for Missy and Sir William to cry wee wee wee all the way to new homes. Thankfully Tooters will soon have a new sty at a partner rescue.

To be clear, MHS is seeking barnyards — not barbeque spits — for Missy and Sir William. Complicating matters, Michigan’s few livestock sanctuaries have no vacancy. You can help by encouraging people to research “micro” pigs (i.e., pet pigs under 300 pounds) before buying one. More importantly, please share the pigs’ story with anyone whose land might serve as hog heaven.
