The following message is from Michigan Humane CEO & President Matt Pepper:

All of us are wrestling with the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on our lives. This is uncharted territory.

Our pets are critically important to us and Michigan Humane is more than an animal welfare organization. We are taking our role in both being a resource and protecting our supporters and staff very seriously.

We have created an internal task force to monitor the situation and have created contingency plans that we can quickly execute in the event the threat to public health elevates. The Michigan Humane leadership team, both Board and staff, remain in constant contact with local and state officials. We are prepared.

Regardless of what happens, there will be a need for us to provide the highest quality care to the animals entrusted to us and to those in our communities. Our organization will be responsible while continuing to save the helpless animals that need us.

As Michigan Humane continues to be there for the animals, we need you to continue to be there for us. This global pandemic will have an impact on our events, volunteers, staff and the economy. Our ability to provide this critical care to those most vulnerable, regardless of the environment around us, is dependent on your support. We need you now more than ever as we hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

All of us have a role in mitigating the impact and spread of COVID-19. Without our staff, volunteers and supporters, we cannot help the animals that need us the most. The safety of all involved is our highest priority.

Please visit Michigan Humane’s coronavirus resource guide for more information on how you can better protect yourself and your pets.

Rest assured knowing we will be here for the animals. The world has seen many things in the past 143 years, and just as we have since 1877, Michigan Humane will be here for you now.
