Today (October 22) is Subaru’s National Make A Dog’s Day. This day puts the spotlight on hard to adopt dogs hoping to find them new families to love. Meet five dogs available to adopt at the Michigan Humane Society who have spent a lot of time in the shelters.
Dogs Up for Adoption
1. Calvin
- Type: Hound
- Gender: Male
- Age: 1 year, 9 months
- Animal ID: 887991
- Location: Detroit
Calvin is a sweet boy who has a lot of energy. He loves to play with humans and toys. Any children in the house must be 14 years of age or older. Calvin is startled easily so it’s not recommended that he goes to crowded places.
2. Archibald
- Type: Pit bull, Boxer
- Gender: Male
- Age: 5 years, 6 months
- Animal ID: 883646
- Location: Westland
Archibald is always on the go and would enjoy exercising and playing with you. He loves to be petted and just wants to love you. Archibald doesn’t have a history with dogs or cats so introductions should happen slowly. Watch the video below to learn more about Archibald.
3. Ryder

- Gender: Male
- Age: 1 year

Ryder loves to show affection and receive it too. He needs to learn some manners since he’s still young but he’s ready to play and exercise with you. Ryder must be the only pet in the house.
4. Sprout
- Type: Boxer
- Gender: Female
- Age: 10 months

- Location: Detroit
Sprout is a low-key dog who would like a calm home. She’s nervous in new situations and needs to adjust slowly. Sprout is easily startled so she may not do well with small children. Watch the video below to find out more about Sprout.
5. Mr. Bubbles

- Age: 2 years, 4 months

Mr. Bubbles is an action-packed dog who loves to play with all the humans. He is not a fan of other dogs so he should be the only one in your home. Mr. Bubbles likes to be petted but he isn’t clingy.
