Each year, the three Michigan Humane Society centers for animal care in Detroit, Rochester Hills and Westland take in 10,000-15,000 or more stray dogs and cats. Sadly, only about 10% of these lost animals have any identification such as an ID tag, license or microchip making it difficult to reunite them with their families.
If you have a cat or dog, the very best thing you can do for them to help ensure they find their way home if they ever get lost, is to have a collar and ID tag on them at all times and to get them microchipped. If they are found by anyone or brought to a shelter, they will know right away who their owner is, and be able to call you to come get your pet!
