Our partners American Textile Recycling Services (ATRS) are all about recycling. At at Earth Day event earlier this year, they encouraged attending children to decorate quilt squares, made out of recycled fabric.

After the event, local quilter Melissa sewed the hundreds of quilt squares together (using more recycled materials) and created some beautiful upcycled quilts for the animals in our care!

ATRS visited the Berman Center for Animal Care to present the quilts to the staff and animals, and they were a hit. In addition to supporting MHS with projects like this, ATRS collects and recycles old clothes and other materials, and donates money to MHS for items that are collected in the MHS bins. You can find bins at any of our MHS locations and throughout the metro Detroit area.

You can see more of the quilting processhere. Thanks to ATRS and happy holidays!
