With Michigan lifting all major COVID-19 restrictions this week, more people have been going back to the office for work. That means the return of a more traditional Take Your Dog to Work Day this Friday, June 25!
Started in 1999 by Pet Sitter International to promote pet adoption, an increasing number of companies have created dog-friendly work environments. Studies have shown that dogs at the workplace increase employee morale and productivity.
Wellness Natural Pet Food conducted a survey with Americans in 2018, and some of the results were interesting:
- 37% of Americans would sacrifice benefits like vacation days and pay increases to be able to bring their dog to work
- 44% of Americans would consider leaving their current job for a pet-friendly employer
According to the Society for Human Resource Management, 11% of workplaces in the U.S. allow dogs, up from 9% in 2018.
Many of us working from home have been enjoying Take Your Dog to Work Day every day during the pandemic. Need a furry co-worker? Check out all of the dogs available to adopt from Michigan Humane on our Adopt a Pet page.
