MHS Volunteer Program: Other Ways to Help

Vounteer: Other Ways to Help
The animals we care for could use your help!

The following MHS volunteer positions do not require a 4 month time committment:

Foster
We are urgently seeking foster families to temporarily house animals, providing them extra care and love so they can ultimately be adopted into good homes. >>>

Create a Tribute Web Page
You can be an ambassador for homeless animals and help raise crucial funds all with your own personal touch!  Did you recently adopt a pet? Have a birthday or wedding coming up? Create a page celebrating your special event to share with family and friends, who can support MHS directly from your personal page. >>>

Craft Projects for Animal Enrichment
Help the animals cared for by the Michigan Humane Society alleviate stress by making one or all of these easy craft projects. Projects include catnip mice, kitty forts, cage covers and fleece blankets. Step by step instructions included. >>>

Host a Third Party Fundraising Event
By hosting an event and designating the Michigan Humane Society as the recipient of all proceeds, you have the opportunity to have fun while also benefiting a great cause.  For more information on hosting your own third party event, please contact Nicole Senczyszyn at 248-283-1000, ext. 103 or by email at nsenczyszyn@michiganhumane.org.  Before using our organizational name, logo or other information in promotional materials, we request you first contact our office. >>>

Dog Banks
Dog Banks are placed in businesses that support our mission.  Shop at a participating business and you can contribute your change to the Michigan Humane Society.  Volunteers are needed to help distribute and collect Dog Banks. >>>

Join the Michigan Legislative Action Network
Take action and help lobby for legislation to address animal welfare issues in Michigan and beyond.  Timely alerts will prompt you to take action with your elected officials. Together we can make a difference. >>>

Hold a Wish List Drive
Click on MHS’ current Wish List to find out what supplies are needed by our three adoption centers and hold a wish list drive to collect those items.  Advertise at your school (with permission) or in your neighborhood and find a designated area to collect items.  Get a few representatives to take the supplies to the nearest MHS Center for Animal Care and see the animals who will benefit from your hard work.  You can also do specific drives such as a blanket and towel or food drive. >>>
