The Value of Adoption from MHS
The Michigan Humane Society offers a comprehensive dog and cat adoption package*. MHS starts with a detailed screening of each animal, including a veterinary exam and behavior assessment followed by sterilization surgery and age-appropriate vaccinations. Post-adoption benefits include a 10-day health plan, Adopter Support, a free behavior assistance help line and an adoption reference package to take home with you.
Dog & Cat Adoption Fees Include:
- Spay or neuter surgery
- Age-appropriate vaccinations
- Basic medical exam
- Behavior assessment
- Fecal test
- Heartworm test (dogs)
- One free office visit within 10 days post adoption if required (cost of treatment not included)
- Free microchipping for cats and kittens (at time of adoption) - new!
- $10 discount on dog microchipping (at time of adoption)
- Adoption counselors to help you find the right companion animal for your family, home and lifestyle

We Have "Other" Adoptable Animals
In addition to dogs and cats, the Michigan Humane Society cares for many other adoptable animals each year including rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, birds, reptiles and more. Please contact one or all of our adoption centers or check our online adoptable animals lists. Most birds and reptiles are cared for at the MHS Rochester Hills Center for Animal Care: 248.852.7420. |
