Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo If you’ve ever wanted to take an animal home from the zoo, now’s your chance
Friday & Saturday September 20 & 21, 2013 Fri.: 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. - New Hours! Sat.: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Detroit Zoo
The Michigan Humane Society and the Detroit Zoological Society will host the annual Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo pet adoption event from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 20, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 21, at the Detroit Zoo.
Hundreds of adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be available for adoption from MHS and more than 30 additional animal welfare organizations!
There is no charge for admission or parking for the adoption event. Regular admission and parking fees apply for those visiting the Zoo.
Since puppies often are in high demand, on Saturday, September 21, “puppy passes” will be distributed to the first 25 guests or families who are specifically seeking a puppy, allowing them to enter the event 15 minutes early.
Adoption fees and policies are set by each participating group and not by event hosts or sponsors. Animals will be adopted only to qualified homes.
Adopters must present a valid driver’s license or state ID card. All dogs and cats will have received a medical check-up and age-appropriate vaccinations.
For health and safety reasons, please leave current companion animals at home.
Our thanks to the corporate sponsors who help make this event possible and for the community’s support in adopting more than 18,000 pets – that is, furry best friends – at the event since 1993!
Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo is held under tents in the Detroit Zoo front parking lot, beneath the signature water tower. The Detroit Zoo is located at 8450 W. 10 Mile Road in Royal Oak.
