Mega March for Animals FAQs Frequently Asked Questions about the Mega March for Animals
When is the 2012 Walk for Animals? The walk is on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit and at Kensington Metropark. Registration opens at 9:00 a.m. and the walk starts at 10 a.m.
Is there a registration fee? There is no registration fee for the Mega March for Animals. However, every dollar of support is critical and a self-donation is strongly encouraged. We encourage all walkers to raise money to help the animals at the Michigan Humane Society.
Can I bring my pets? Everyone is welcome to walk, with or without a pet. Pets who are friendly, vaccinated and would enjoy the event are welcome to attend on a leash or in a carrier. Please bring proof of current vaccinations and be prepared to pick up after your pets. Please keep in mind that approximately 3,000 dogs will be in attendance.
Can I bring my children and can they participate? The Mega March for Animals is a family-friendly event and children are welcome in all areas. If a child under 18 years of age would like to raise funds, he or she may register either online or by printed form.
What if I cannot attend the March but I want to raise funds for the animals? Attendance on the day of the Mega March for Animals is not required. If you cannot attend, you may still register online and use the website tools to raise funds, or use a printed pledge form to raise money. Send cash, checks and forms to:

What do I do with the cash and checks that I collect? Please bring all cash and checks to the Check-In Tent at Hart Plaza or at Kensington Metropark on October 7. If you receive cash or checks after the event, please drop off or mail the donations in a clearly marked envelope to:

How do I add cash and checks to my online total? If you would like to add the cash or checks you receive to your walk page online donations total, follow these instructions: Go to your “Participant Center” and click on the “Progress” button at the top. Click on the link “Enter new gift,” which is in the upper right side of the page. The next page that comes up will allow you to enter gifts of cash, checks, or credit cards.
How do I print out my gift history list? In your Participant Center, Click on "Progress,” located at the top. Scroll all the way down to where it says “Donation History” and click on "View all personal donations". You may also download your personal donation list in a MS Excel format.
How do I make a correction to an online donation? If you have any questions about your donation or a donation made on your behalf, please email us at megamarch@michiganhumane.org.
I registered as an individual walker online. How can I join a team? If you are already registered online and would like to join a team or switch teams, please email us at megamarch@michiganhumane.org.
How long is the March? Hart Plaza: A 2-mile walk from Hart Plaza up Woodward Ave to Grand Circus Park, returning back to Hart Plaza on Woodward. Kensington Metropark: A 2-mile walk from Possums Hollow through Maple Beach, with the turnaround point at Baywood area. Shorter routes will also be available on walk day. Water will be provided for people and pets at several points along the route.
