MICHIGAN HUMANE SOCIETY INVESTIGATION SHOWS THE ATTACK OF FARM ANIMALS AT LOCAL SCHOOL NOT DONE BY HUMANS
MHS veterinarians conclude injuries consistent with dog bites

DETROIT After investigating the deaths of more than a dozen farm animals at a school in Detroit, the Michigan Humane Society (MHS) Cruelty Investigation Department and expert veterinary staff have concluded that the wounds were consistent with dog bites.

On Friday, May 31, the Michigan Humane Society Cruelty Investigation Department was called to the 2700 block of Selden in Detroit to investigate the apparent slaughter of animals at a local school. Investigators found that five goats, eight chickens, and one cat had been killed. Two chickens were found alive, but injured. After investigating the scene, the cruelty investigators brought the animals back to MHS for forensic analysis where it was determined that their wounds were consistent with dog bites.

It is undetermined at this time if the attack was made by a single dog or multiple dogs.

The Michigan Humane Society works to end companion animal homelessness, provide the highest quality service and compassion to the animals entrusted to our care, and to be a leader in promoting humane values. For more information, visit www.michiganhumane.org.
