Dog found living in tree
We’ve all heard about cats in trees. But what if it was a dog? And instead of being stuck on a branch, what if she was actually *inside* the tree?
That was life for Maple, a 4-month-old pit/shepherd mix. We heard about her wandering the west side of Detroit as temperatures were dropping into the 20s..
This sweet pup was looking for any way to escape the harsh Michigan winter.
She found a hollowed-out tree, and there, she tried to survive the winter, tucked away from the wind and snow.
But with her short coat, Maple had no way of protecting herself from the cold. She likely would have frozen to death, if someone hadn’t seen her in the tree and called the Michigan Humane Society.
I went out and picked her up, and from the start, it was clear that this sweet girl was very friendly and very, very affectionate. In fact, when she got back to the MHS Detroit Center for Animal Care, she tried to give kisses to everyone she saw!
Right now, she’s in foster care, and we’re hoping she’ll be able to find a forever home in the next week or two. She’s going to make one lucky family very happy.
Rescues like Maple’s are only possible because of people like you.
