Over 200 Sick Animals Need Your Help
Won't you please help

Animals living in dirty and cramped cages. Little or no veterinary care provided, even to those who were sick and suffering. Barely food to eat, hardly enough water to drink, and little hope for the more than 200 animals at the Pet Station, a pet store in Dearborn Heights. These animals suffered silently, waiting for rescue.

Then help arrived in the form of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, other law enforcement agencies and MHS’ Cruelty Investigation and Emergency Rescue teams.  MHS immediately began providing them with much-needed care.  Many different types of animals were seized, including puppies, guinea pigs, frogs, snakes, birds, chinchillas and more.

Now, we need your support to feed the hungry, treat the ill and care for each animal until we find them a loving home.

Exotic animals like many of those rescued from the pet store have unique needs, requiring strict care, diet and grooming regimens. Once the animals were relocated to the Michigan Humane Society, the difficult work of assessing each animal’s medical needs began.

Incredibly, despite their ordeal, many of these animals have endured, and are today healing, recuperating and receiving daily attention from MHS shelter staff and our veterinary team. Having suffered such neglect, an extraordinary amount of behind-the-scenes work has gone into caring for these animals and nursing them back to health. But more needs to be done.

The costs of care for these animals can run into the hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

Your support is crucial to helping provide these animals with a second chance.

MHS’ Cruelty Investigators will continue to work with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office to help ensure the pet store’s owner is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Feeding, cleaning, exercising, socializing and treating these animals’ medical conditions will all take significant resources. Please, donate today.

Thanks again for all you make possible.
