Stray Dog and Her 10 Puppies: Rescued!
Michigan Humane Society Emergency Rescue Team Swings Into Action
Alone and hungry in a dilapidated Detroit garage, drinking from dirty puddles and struggling to survive in the cold temperatures, the situation for a stray German shepherd mix and her ten puppies was fast becoming desperate.

the MHS Detroit Center for Animal
The Michigan Humane Society’s Emergency Rescue team swung into action, coming to the aid of the ten young puppies and bringing them back to MHS’ Detroit Center for Animal Care. The next day, with the assistance of Detroit Animal Control, MHS Rescue staff were able to catch the wary mother dog, making for a very happy reunion!
Currently, the mother and her puppies are receiving veterinary care, nutritious food and plenty of TLC. After the state-mandated four-day stray hold, each dog will be evaluated for health and temperament, and if found to be healthy enough for adoption, will be placed in foster homes until they are ready to find their loving forever homes!
You can make a difference right now in the lives of the mother dog, now named Scarlett, her puppies, and the tens of thousands of animals the Michigan Humane Society rescues and cares for every year. Click here to make a life-saving donation today and help transform animal lives!
