Companion Animal Welfare Fund
An Easy Way To Help Animals During Tax Time!

Passage of the Companion Animal Welfare Fund created a new, interest-bearing fund in the State Treasury that supports animal welfare organizations and rescue groups throughout Michigan.  Michigan taxpayers can donate to the fund through Schedule 4642, a Michigan voluntary contribution tax form.

All donations will be distributed through grants to organizations throughout Michigan, providing financial support for critical adoption, sterilization and animal cruelty investigation programs that are key in ending companion animal homelessness and neglect.

All it takes is three simple steps:

  1. Obtain Schedule 4642, a voluntary contribution form, from your tax preparer, or download below.
  2. On the form, select Option 2 “Animal Welfare Fund” and designate an amount of your discretion to be donated. You can choose to designate a portion of your tax refund to the fund, or make a separate voluntary contribution.
  3. Attach Schedule 4642 to your individual tax return form.
