Diamond

Each year, thousands of
abused, neglected and injured
animals are rescued and
cared for by MHS.

Her name is Diamond. Big black nose and beautifully soft white fur. She’s adorable, and only a few months old. And when we first saw her, we were pretty sure she was going to die.

Cruelly neglected and starved, she was nothing more than skin and bones. A dog her size should be roughly 16 pounds. She was only eight.

You can help animals like Diamond receive food, medicine, and loving homes right now. Please donate.

She was so weak, she wasn’t able to stand on her own. That first night, as I laid her down on a heating pad and she closed her eyes in exhaustion, the MHS veterinary team expressed their concern that she might not make it through to morning.

When I came in the next day and saw her tail weakly wagging in greeting, I knew that she was a fighter. I was even more encouraged when she wolfed down her breakfast.

Food, shelter and medical treatment to stabilize her were just the beginning. Diamond had to undergo surgery to remove foreign objects that she had eaten while trying to stay alive on her own.

Since that first September night, Diamond has undergone months of rehabilitation and recovery. Even after finally regaining all of her lost weight, her system still struggled to cope with what she had been through.

I'm proud to share with you that she’s now happy and healthy, and will spend her first holiday season with a family who absolutely adores her.  And it’s all thanks to people like you.

Animal abuse and neglect happen every day in our community. With your donation, the Michigan Humane Society will be there for these helpless victims.

We can’t do it without you. Help more animals like Diamond today. Please donate, and help change a life.

Sincerely,
Debby MacDonald
