Michigan Humane Society Offering $2,500 Reward For Information About Beagle Dumped In Trash Bag Dog is now receiving medical treatment at MHS Detroit Center for Animal Care
DETROIT – The Michigan Humane Society (MHS) Cruelty Investigation Department is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for abandoning a 2-year-old female Beagle in a trash bag on the east side of Detroit. The dog was discovered in the 2000 block of Bellevue, an industrial area near Charlevoix and Mt. Elliott, by an employee of a nearby business.
It is unknown how long the dog had been in the trash bag, but the bag was soaked with the dog’s urine, indicating that it may have been days. The Beagle may have suffered some form of trauma, as she was in severe pain when picked up by MHS. The dog was treated with painkillers and is being thoroughly examined by MHS veterinarians, who are guarded about the dog’s current prognosis. However, she is responding very well to initial treatment.
Anyone with information or who may have seen the animal abandoned in the Bellevue neighborhood is asked to contact the Michigan Humane Society’s Cruelty Hotline at (313) 872-3401. Your anonymity will be respected.
