Shy Kitty

Does your kitty hide when company visits?  If you’d like to expand your kitty’s circle of “human” friends remember to always pair something ‘awesome fantastic’ with the presence of a new person.  Keep things on the quiet side and don’t ever force your cat upon people before your cat is ready.  Have the new person sit calmly the floor and look away from the cat.  Drop tasty kitty treats near the person.  Avoid sudden movements and let the cat come get the treats. 

If the kitty still won’t approach or grabs the treat and runs away it’s ok.  Just move the treats a bit further away from the person (yep, further away).  You want to find a distance where the kitty is comfortable approaching and hanging out for a bit eating the treats; somewhere near the person. 

Eventually, you can move the treats closer to the person, but be patient.  The time you invest will be well worth it!
