MHS Needs Your Help at the Mega March for Animals
We're looking for volunteers for our annual Mega March for Animals event! You do not need to be a current volunteer to help out, and there is no future volunteer commitment required. For more information, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Help is needed on:
• Saturday, September 10, Downriver at Civic Center Park, Woodhaven
• Sunday, September 25 at Belle Isle State Park in Detroit
• Sunday, October 2 at Stony Creek Metropark
• Sunday, October 2 at Kensington Metropark
Open 2016 Mega March Roles:
REGISTRATION/CHECK-IN (8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Registration volunteers will work at the Check-in tent assisting individual walkers/team captains as they arrive, collecting their money raised and verifying registration forms. Volunteers should ideally be over the age of 18 and must have excellent money-handling and customer service skills.
DOG HOLDERS/POOCH PATROL (8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Volunteers should possess excellent customer service and communication skills; enjoy working with the general public; be able to work around a variety of dogs; be comfortable approaching people to discuss signs of stress their dog might be exhibiting and how they can be safe at the event along the route.
CLIPBOARD BRIGADE (8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Clip Board Brigade volunteers will assist walkers/team captains with their registration forms and direct them to the next available check-in table. Volunteers should ideally be over the age of 18, have excellent customer service skills and must be able to stand during their shift.
ROUTE MARSHALS (9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
Route Marshal volunteers support walkers and their four-legged friends by ensuring they stay on the route. Some Route Marshals may assist as crossing guards and will have the proper identification to serve as such (stop sign, crossing guard vest). The ideal volunteer for this position must be over the age of 14 and able to stand the entire time.
BACK-UP ASSISTANCE (8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.)
The volunteer in the role of BACK-UP ASSISTANCE at the Mega March is in a flexible position. He/she may be asked to assist in several different areas during the event including standing, sitting, or directly working with animals. The ideal volunteer in this role must be over the age of 14, be energetic, have great customer service, work well in a team or alone, and have a can-do attitude!
