Riley’s Rescues Program

Detroit Red Wing Center Riley Sheahan’s Riley’s Rescues Program

November 11, 2015

In support of the Michigan Humane Society, Detroit Red Wing Center Riley Sheahan started a charity program titled “Riley’s Rescues”. In its second year, this program helps highlight both animal adoption and our Emergency Rescue Department.

As part of the program, Riley will donate $100 for every point he gets to our Emergency Rescue Department. In the 2014-2015 season, Riley donated $4,000 in support of this key MHS program. In addition to this, Riley helps promote adoption by featuring adoptable animals from our Detroit shelter throughout the hockey season. All animals that Riley features are sent to their new homes with special Red Wings goodies and a signed picture from Riley himself.

When the season ended, Riley visited the shelter one last time and met a sweet Shepherd mix named Ryder who quickly stole his heart. Riley couldn’t pass her up and he signed the adoption papers that day to take her home.

Riley is also participating in the Detroit Red Wings Foundation’s Autographs for a Cause. This program invites fans to send in their hockey cards and a 8x10 or smaller photograph to Riley Sheahan. Riley will then autograph the items in exchange for a $20 donation to the Detroit Red Wings Foundation. These donation swill then be collected and donated to the Michigan Humane Society at the end of the season. Those wishing to participate in this program should send the items they wish to be autographed as well as a check or money order (payable to the Detroit Red Wings Foundation) and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:
