This fall, the Michigan Humane Society (MHS) is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Mega March for Animals, the largest walk for animals in Michigan, and adding a fourth walk location Downriver at Civic Center Park in Woodhaven on Saturday, September 10.

The Mega March will return to Belle Isle State Park in Detroit on Sunday, September 25 and to both Kensington Metropark in Milford and Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township on Sunday, October 2.

At all four walks, registration/check-in will begin at 9 a.m. and the two-mile walk will kick off at 10 a.m. Funds raised by the Mega March are critical to helping MHS transform animal lives from Homeless to Loved!

Registration is now open. Visit www.michiganhumane.org/MEGA to start a team, join a team or walk as an individual.

It is easy and quick for each participant to set up a personalized webpage, share why they are getting involved, invite others to join their team or donate to their walk, post social media updates, and track their fundraising progress.

The Downriver Mega March for Animals will take marchers on a two-mile route around beautiful Civic Center Park; the Belle Isle walk will feature spectacular views of the park; the Kensington route will take walkers along the scenic shores of Kent Lake; and the Stony Creek walk will treat walkers to a colorful stroll through woods.

Those walking with a pet should bring the pet’s current vaccination records and ensure the pet is on a leash or in a carrier at all times.

Through the generous support of its sponsors, walk participants and their supporters, the 2015 Mega March for Animals raised enough funds to change the lives of more than 2,800 animals in need.
